SevenOne International programming highlights at the AFM
The Airlift (producer: teamWorx) is a film about a city in a state of emergency, and about an unending passion. It tells the moving story of the love between a German woman and an American man in the historically turbulent times of the Berlin Airlift between 1948 and 1949. The expensively produced event movie was filmed with original aircraft the famous raisin bombers from the immediate postwar era. In the thrilling disaster film Tornado, a storm of unprecedented violence threatens to destroy Berlin. The scenario has been impressively produced, with elaborate special effects. The Crows (producer: Stream Films) is a thriller in the best Hitchcock tradition, in which intelligent crows threaten Berlin. It was shot using real birds trained by Oscar-nominated animal trainer Jean-Philippe Varin (Winged Migration). In family entertainment, SevenOne International will be taking Charlie II (producer: Bavaria Film GmbH) to the AFM. In Towering Inferno (producer: Wiedemann & Berg Filmproduktion), an inferno inside Berlins TV tower threatens eight peoples lives. They find themselves locked inside the tower`s restaurant, more than 200 meters above the city. Escape becomes more and more unlikely. To reproduce this frightening scenario as realistically as possible, the film uses not only elaborate special effects, but real fire in many scenes. The Hunt for Troy (producer: teamWorx) tells the true story of the discovery of the site of ancient Troy. The film was shot in what is not only Europes largest but deepest film set: to portray the excavations realistically, the digs go down as much as 12 meters. The event movie also boasts an outstanding cast, including Heino Ferch and the French star Mélanie Doutey. Other highlights include the family event The Ghost of Canterville (producer: Roxy Film) with a computer-animated ghost and the action movies Six Weeks of Fear (producer: Janus Film) and Full Throttle (producer: Rat Pack Filmproduktion).
