Programming highlights at MIPTV 2007:
Events:
The two-part special event The Hunt for Troy (Producer: teamWorx) tells the true story of the discovery of the site of ancient Troy. The production was shot in 2006 on what was Europes deepest film set. To portray the excavations realistically, shooting went on as much as 12 meters below the ground. The Hunt for Troy has an outstanding cast, headed by Heino Ferch (The Airlift) and French star Mélanie Doutey (Clara Sheller/Flowers of Evil by Claude Chabrol). Raging Inferno is an event movie from the Oscar-winning production duo Wiedemann & Berg (The Lives of Others). In the catastrophe film, a conflagration in Berlins broadcasting tower forces the elite rescue troop headed by Horst Strasser to turn back. Only ex-fireman Tom makes it to the victims trapped in the tower restaurant. But theres not much time left before the fire reaches them. Raging Inferno uses elaborate special effects and real fire to lend the feeling of realism the screenplay requires. Raging Inferno has already been sold to more than 20 countries before it was finished. When the police hit their limits, thats when the guys from the Special Unit (Producer: Typhoon AG) are sent in. They get their main assignments in fighting terrorism, organized crime and dangerous individuals. To keep things as real as possible, the makers of the action series drew on practical advice from professionals in the field.
