ProSiebenSat.1 congratulates Lena on winning the Eurovision Song Contest

A spring-time fairytale from Oslo: Lena Meyer-Landrut wins the Eurovision Song Contest and sends the whole of Germany wild with delight. With a massive lead of more than 70 points, the 19-year-old girl from Hanover brought the Eurovision title back to Germany for the first time in 28 years. Her home town put on a massive show to celebrate Lena on behalf of the nation: thousands turned out on Sunday to welcome the Lufthansa flight specially laid on by ProSieben and NDR in the night after the competition.

On board were Lena and the man who discovered her, Stefan Raab. 40,000 joined the party with Lena and Stefan outside the Neues Rathaus, with ProSieben covering the fun live. The decision was made as soon as the competition had finished: ProSieben would change its schedule to follow Lena's return to German soil live in “taff Spezial: Deutschland feiert Lena”.

Lena's journey to Norway began in “Unser Star für Oslo”, a talent show broadcast by ProSieben and Das Erste. In TV total Oslo Spezial on ProSieben, she spent a whole week preparing herself and the nation for the Eurovision Song Contest straight from the heart of the Norwegian capital. It took her just three minutes to conquer the whole of Europe and make history. The Eurovision Song Contest attracted its biggest audience in Germany for 30 years, with more than 60 percent of 14-49-year-olds tuning in. The nation adores Lena. WE LOVE Lena. Stefan Raab: "Yippie yahoo – this was not just a victory for Lena, it was also a victory for Germany and it was a victory for good taste. Which means that Europe won as well."

Andreas Bartl, Managing Director, ProSiebenSat.1 TV: "I would like to offer my congratulations to Lena on this unbelievable success. A year ago, we, together with Stefan Raab, had a big dream. This dream has now become a far more wonderful reality than any of us could have imagined. I would like to thank Stefan Raab, Das Erste and ProSieben for the good teamwork."

Thilo Proff, Managing Director, ProSieben: "I would like to congratulate Lena with all my heart on this fabulous victory. First she enchanted Stefan Raab, then Germany, and now the whole of Europe. I would also like to compliment Stefan Raab. He achieved what he promised to his audience. The Eurovision Song Contest and the route to get there were a major happening this year. I'm delighted that we'll be able to continue our outstanding relationship with Stefan Raab and NDR in 2011."
